41、hope to do sth

希望做某事。hope后面可接动词不定式作宾语，但不能说hope sb to do sth（动词不定式作宾补）; hope 后面可接宾语从句，且通常用一般将来时。动词短语有hope for sth.

例句：I hope to become a famous businessman in the future.我希望将来成为一名有名的商人。

I hope that my father will come back this afternoon.我希望我父亲今天下午回来。

42、wish to do sth

希望做某事。wish后面可接动词不定式作宾语，也可说wish sb to do sth（动词不定式作宾补）; wish 后面可接宾语从句，宾语从句要用虚拟语气。动词短语有wish for sth.

例句：I wish to become a famous businessman in the future. 我希望将来成为一名有名的商人。

I wish that my father should/would come back this afternoon. 我希望我父亲今天下午回来。（这种希望实现的可能性比较小，故用虚拟语气。）

My father wishes me to become a successful businesswoman when I grow up.我父亲希望我长大后成为一个成功的女商人。

43、advise doing sth, advise sb to do sth

advise doing sth建议做某事，后接名词或动名词。=suggest doing sth

例句：He advised leaving early before sunset.他建议日落前尽早离开。

advise sb to do sth建议某人做某事，后接动词不定式作宾补。

例句：He advised us to leave early before sundown.他建议我们在日落前尽早离开。

advise 后面可接宾语从句，但宾语从句要用虚拟语气，句型为：advise (that) sb (should) do sth, that和should可以省略。

例句：He advised (that )we( should) leave early before nightfall. 他建议我们在夜幕降临前尽早离开。

44、object to doing sth

反对做某事，to为介词，后接名词或动名词。=be opposed to doing sth

例句：I object there being anyone who dares to make merry over me in public. 我反对有人敢当众嘲笑我。

45、on one’s way to (doing)sth

在做某事的路上。to为介词，后接名词或动名词。

例句：He is on his way to succeeding in becoming a great businessman.

他正在成功地成为一个伟大的商人的路上。

奉献某人的时间、生命，专心致志做某事，to为介词，后接名词或动名词。

47、insist on (doing) sth

坚持做某事，后接名词或动名词。

例句：He insisted on paying for lunch today.他今天坚持要为午餐买单。

insist 可以作及物动词，后接宾语从句，要用虚拟语气。

例句：He insisted that he should pay for lunch today. 他今天坚持要为午餐买单。

48、persist in doing sth

顽强地坚持、有毅力、执着地做某事，后接名词或动名词。

例句：Tom persists in searching for the truth. 汤姆顽强地坚持寻求真相。

persist 可以作及物动词，后接宾语从句，要用虚拟语气。

例句：He persists that he should find out the truth in the near future.他坚持在不久的将来他会查明真相。

49、be worth( doing) sth

值得做某事/某事值得被做。后接名词或动名词，有被动的意思，主语与动词之间有动宾关系，故动词要用及物动词或动词短语。

例句：The new book written by his teacher is worth reading.他的老师写的那本新书值得一读。=It is worth reading the new book written by his teacher.

注意：be worthy of sth/being done或be worthy to be done的句型。

例句：The novel is worthy of being read.= The novel is worthy to be read.=The novel is worth reading=It’s worth reading the novel.那本小说值得一读。

50、inform sb of (doing) sth

通知、告知某人做某事，后接名词或动名词。

例句：We should be kept informed of what’s going on outside the campus.我们应当被持续告知校园外发生的一切。

The teacher informed him of coming to school 10 minutes earlier the next day.老师通知他第二天早十分钟来到学校。
